Made in Cumbria, our lime plaster (Eden Skim Coat) is produced via the hot mix method. Mixed at ratio of 2:1 (sand:quicklime).

Lime plaster is a traditional internal finishing plaster, applied over base coats of lime mortar or insulated lime. Can also be used for skimming onto plasterboard, for this the boards would need to be primed first with Baumit Premium Primer (DG27).

The lime plaster should be applied at less than 2mm coats at anyone time, a second pass can be done 2-3 hours later (this depends on temperature and humidity in the room)

Coverage:

22kg bucket covers approximately 4-5m² (allowing for 2 x 2mm passes)

Lime Mortar – Premixed

Made in Cumbria, our lime mortar is produced via the dry slaked hot mix method. Mixed at ratio of 3:1 (sand:quicklime) and supplied unhaired.

The lime mortar is used for backing coats of lime plaster and lime render, scratch coats will need hair or fibres adding to the mix when knocking the mortar back up for reinforcement. Also used for internal and external building/bedding, pointing and parging/torching (add a Pozzolan for external use or damp internal conditions).

For internal final finish see Lime Plaster (Eden Skim Coat).

Lime Mortar Colour Options (for pointing)

Three colour options are available as premixed lime mortars, these would just need to be knocked up before use and pozzolan added if needed:

1 Eden Standard – Nosterfield sharp sand and -3mm kibble quicklime

2 Eden Fine Yellow – Appleton Yellow sand blended with limestone dust and -3mm kibble quicklime

3 Eden Fine Red – Red plastering sand blended with limestone dust and -3mm kibble quicklime

Lime Mortar Coverage:

Render/plaster scratch coats @15mm thick = 39kg/m²

Render/plaster float coats @10mm thick = 26kg/m²

Re-pointing stonework = Approximately 26kg/m²

Re-pointing brickwork (assuming 10mm wide x 20mm deep joint) = Approximately 8kg/m² (including 10% waste)

Brick laying – 1000kg of mortar will lay 900-1000 bricks (no waste allowed)

Stone bedding – 1000kg of mortar will bed approximately 5 m³ of stone

Roof parging/torching – Approximately 22kg of lime mortar (dependent on slate & lath).

Pozzolan

Argical-M 1000 Pozzolan is helpful when applying hot lime mixes in damp, frost prone or exposed locations. The addition of Argical to hot lime mixes will increase compressive strength which helps to offer additional protection during the carbonation period.
Traditionally, volcanic ash, brick dust and other forms of burnt clays were used as additives in hot lime mixes and today this is refined in the form of Argical-M 1000. The term ‘pozzolan’ originates from the Italian town of Pozzuoli where volcanic ash was added during Roman times.

We recommend adding a pozzolan between 5% – 10% by volume depending on the time of year, exposure and use.

Quantity required for gauging into pre-mixed mortars:

5% by volume (1/20) – One tonne of mortar requires 12.5kg of Argical-M 1000

10% by volume (1/10) – One tonne of mortar requires 25kg of Argical-M 1000

Quantity required when making hot mix mortars on site:

5% by volume – For every measure of Quicklime added to the mix, add approx 20% of the same measure of Argical-M 1000

10% by volume – For every measure of Quicklime added to the mix, add approx 40% of the same measure of Argical-M 1000

Thermal Conductivity: A lambda value (λd) of 0.040-0.043 W/(mK), ensuring effective thermal insulation.

**IMPORTANT** – Please note:

Wet, damaged, deformed or soiled insulation boards must not be installed. The PAVAWALL GF XL panels do not act as a rain screen during the construction phase for the ETICS work in question, they must therefore be protected from bad weather. If there is a risk of exposure to the weather, the panels must be effectively protected (e.g. by installing a rainscreen in front of the scaffolding) until the work is completed.

Panels stored on site must be protected from the elements with a tarpaulin, or a clean and tight pallet cover. PAVAWALL GF XL panels must be coated within 2 months of installation.

Thermal insulation both in summer and in winter

One advantage that is particularly noticeable in winter: thanks to the woodfibre, the home retains its comfortable warmth for a long time, because the extraordinary thermal-insulating characteristics of woodfibre materials avoid heat loss. The natural porosity and the composition of the fibres make the wood a particularly effective insulator.

Thanks to the woodfibre you can enjoy a mild temperature even on hot days. The attics in fact tend to heat up a lot in summer because the roof captures the warmth of the sun on a very large surface. Woodfibre board products have a higher weight than, for example, glass wool and can offer greater resistance to solar radiation (greater heat storage capacity). The daytime heat is then released only in the evening hours, cooler.

Hempcrete is an amazing natural building material with many advantages unfortunately, there have traditionally been several issues which have restricted its wider use, such as requiring specialist knowledge, inconsistent supply and ultimately higher cost.

We have resolved these issues by using hemp blocks, which require no specialist skills or equipment, and by Partnering with Senini we have secured a regular high-quality supply, making the blocks more cost effective and available for more general use.

Our blocks are made of hemp shiv and hydrated lime. Hemp shiv is the chopped up woody stalk of the industrial hemp plant and is the waste from the hemp fibre industry. It is packed full of the carbon that the plant has taken out of the atmosphere during its growth.

When you build with our blocks you capture that carbon and fix it in the fabric of the building making our blocks carbon negative, as they have captured more carbon than it takes to produce and transport them. The advantage is doubled when you take in to account the carbon that would have been used to make the current insulation alternatives, making it a win, win.

The hemp shiv is mixed with hydrated lime, hydrated lime is made from burning and crushing limestone. Although this is an energy intense process the benefit of using hydrated lime is that it re-absorbs a lot of the carbon dioxide released during burning as it carbonates or sets, giving our blocks a further environmental advantage over other hempcretes.

This makes it more environmentally friendly than using hydraulic limes, or of course cement, which is burnt at a much higher temperature than lime and does not reabsorb carbon as it sets.

Both ingredients of our blocks are 100% natural and waste blocks or waste at the end of the building’s life poses no harm to humans or the environment.

Storage

Store the insulation boards on a flat surface, keep dry and protected from sunlight. Stack no more than 4 pallets on top of each other.

KEIM Soldalit-ME

Highly specialised sol-silicate facade paint with photocatalytic effect for organic, mineral and mixed substrates, as well as ETICS. Photocatalytically active, reduces harmful gases (e.g. NOx, VOCs) and organic pollutants. Organic content < 5%

KEIM Soldalit-ME is a variation of KEIM Soldalit which offers sustainable exterior protection for buildings with the additional environmental benefit that it helps to degrade nitrogen oxide pollutants from the atmosphere. It is suitable for coastal locations and will withstand harsh weather conditions.

Photocatalytic mineral paints use light energy to neutralise pollution by the addition of the catalyst titanium dioxide. The photocatalytic reaction converts Nitrogen Oxides and other harmful pollutants such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde into harmless nitrates. The reaction also helps to breakdown organic material and contaminants, keeping surfaces cleaner. The catalyst is not used up by the reaction and will continue to react for the life of the paint.
• Removes harmful air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, ammonia, VOCs
• Resistant to mould and fungal growth
• Exceptionally durable
• Provides weathering protection
• Waterproof
• Breathable / highly moisture vapour permeable
