How to Apply:

• Apply using a notched trowel appropriate to tile size.
• For large tiles or uneven backs, use the double buttering method to ensure full coverage.
• Beat tiles gently with a mallet to bed them firmly into the adhesive.
• Allow 24 hours before grouting or foot traffic.
• Recommended working temperature: between 5°C and 30°C.

Coverage:

Coverage varies depending on tile size and trowel notch:
• Approx. 3.5 to 8 kg/m².

The Production Process of Foam Glass

The production process of GEOCELL Foam Glass Aggregate is a fascinating journey from recycled glass to a versatile building material. Here’s an overview of the steps involved:

• Collection and Cleaning: The process begins with the collection of post-consumer recycled glass. This glass is thoroughly cleaned to ensure it contains less than 1% non-glass contaminants.
• Milling: The cleaned glass is then milled into a superfine powder. This step is crucial as it prepares the glass for the sintering process.
• Mixing with Foaming Agent: The glass powder is measured and mixed with a foaming agent. The foaming agent will help the glass expand and form the cellular structure of foam glass.
• Sintering: The mixture is then conveyed into ovens where it undergoes sintering at high temperatures, around 900°C. This heat causes the glass powder to expand and transform into foam glass.
• Cooling and Formation: As the foam glass exits the kiln on a conveyor belt, it cools down. During this cooling phase, tension cracks occur, which helps in breaking down the material into gravel-sized pieces of foam glass aggregate.
• Packaging: Finally, the foam glass aggregate is packaged into big bags of various volumes, ready for transportation and use in construction projects.

The geotextile membrane is used for separation layers on Limecrete floors that incorporate GEOCELL foam glass aggregate. This is positioned onto the sub-soil bellow the foam glass, then a second layer over the top once the foam glass is compacted.

Other Uses
MultiTrack is a thermally bonded or needle punched non-woven geotextile that offers many benefits where separation, filtration and drainage functions are required.
It delivers excellent durability and drainage function in addition to its very high water flow capability, but reduced strength in comparison to a woven geotextile. It can also be used for erosion control and protect membranes from being punctured. Ideal for roads, car parks, coastal defences and drainage systems.

Biaxial Geogrid is used for attaching underfloor heating pipes on Limecrete floors that incorporate GEOCELL foam glass aggregate.

The Geogrid is laid out over the Geotextile membrane that is wrapped around the compacted GEOCELL foam glass aggregate. The Geogrid can then be used to secure the underfloor heating pipe with either clip rails or cable ties to secure the pipes in place before the screed is installed.

Nosterfield Washed River Sand

Nosterfield river sand is a 0-4mm grit sand that’s used for making hot lime mortars, but can also be used for making other mortar mixes and screeds. Available in tonne bags or 25kg bags.

Appleton Yellow Sand

Appleton Yellow Sand is a 0-2mm building sand that’s used for making hot lime mortar blends mixed with washed sharp sand, but also as a general building sand. Available in tonne bags.

Limestone Dust

Limestone dust is 0-4mm granitic limestone dust, it’s highly versatile and a decent substitute for sharp sand. Limestone dust is crushed limestone that can be used as a sub-base for paving and artificial grass. Due to its fine consistency it can be easily compacted and makes for a smooth, flat and firm surface for various applications. 4mm to dust limestone can also be used more widely in construction, for example as a binding agent added to MOT type 1 where the aggregate is too loose.

Moist Silica Sand

A washed and graded high quality silica sand used for making hot lime plasters, available in 25kg bags.
